Photo of the Day - and a Thomas Rainier Quote

"We need alchemists who can turn our banal residential yards into spaces for dwelling.

But a garden is a relationship.

The best a designer can do is to make the introduction."

(I agree! - Jan)

  1. What a wonderful quote...yes, I think a designer really has to be the means by which someone discovers the garden that resonates for them. In the process, maybe we also make a new gardener, but that doesn't always happen and isn't always the point. But a garden that is used and loved, and speaks to the soul of the inhabitant, that is a garden well-made.

    1. Maggie - that is so true...in the end, all we can hope to do is make the introduction through design. and making new gardeners is a great way to describe it.
